With sunshine finally making a more regular appearance across Oxfordshire, there are few better excuses to gather friends, order cocktails, and settle into a terrace for the afternoon. That was exactly the atmosphere at Flight Club Oxford this week as the venue celebrated the launch of its refreshed Summer Terrace.
Hidden behind the lively fairground-inspired interiors and buzzing Social Darts oches is one of Oxford’s more surprising outdoor spaces — a spacious terrace overlooking the Oxfordshire countryside. Already a popular after-work spot, the area has now been transformed for summer with bright floral displays, festoon lighting, and plenty of relaxed seating designed for long afternoons that stretch into the evening.
The terrace itself feels a world away from the bustle of Westgate. Peonies, hydrangeas, and foxgloves add bursts of colour throughout the space, while the combination of covered seating, heaters, and blankets means it remains comfortable even when the British weather inevitably changes its mind.
What makes the experience work particularly well is the balance between laid-back outdoor drinking and the energetic atmosphere Flight Club is known for inside. Guests can enjoy cocktails in the sunshine before moving indoors for Social Darts once the sun begins to set — something the venue is calling its “Sundowners and Social Darts” experience.
During the launch, the new seasonal cocktails immediately stood out. The Hot Peach delivers a sweet heat combination with Casamigos Blanco Tequila, hot honey syrup, lime, coriander, and Peach Red Bull served alongside for guests to customise the drink themselves. Meanwhile, the Hibiscus Kiss leans more floral and refreshing, mixing Engine Gin, St-Germain, hibiscus tea, apple juice, lemon, and tonic for a lighter summer serve.
The food offering is equally geared towards sociable summer gatherings. The Margs & Margs deal pairs a Margherita sharing pizza with two Margaritas, while the tacos lunch deal offers a quick and affordable option for daytime visitors looking to escape the office for an hour.
Weekend brunch is also expected to be a major draw throughout the warmer months. Every Saturday and Sunday, guests can book a two-hour brunch session featuring unlimited pizza, a bottle of Prosecco each, and a round of Social Darts — combining the venue’s competitive edge with a more relaxed summer atmosphere outdoors.
As evening arrives, the terrace changes character again. The festoon lights switch on, music picks up inside the venue, and the transition from casual daytime drinks to lively night out happens naturally. It is easy to see why Flight Club is positioning the space as one of Oxford’s go-to social spots this summer.
For a city centre venue, the terrace manages to feel unexpectedly open and relaxed, while still delivering the high-energy atmosphere people associate with Flight Club. Whether it is cocktails in the sunshine, brunch with friends, or competitive darts after dark, the new Summer Terrace looks set to become one of Oxford’s standout warm-weather destinations this season.
