You don’t have to cook up a storm. A few tasty treats, something to drink, and a picnic blanket on the living room floor, or even on the bed, will go a long way in lifting spirits.

Pack all the food and drinks into a picnic basket complete with plates and utensils. Dashing in and out of the kitchen really defeats the purpose.
