Nestled in the British countryside close to Towcester in West Northamptonshire lies Silverstone – one of the world’s most iconic circuits and home of the British Grand Prix. Alongside hosting the well-known Formula 1 races, where the circuit acts as both venue and promoter, Silverstone also hosts nearly 40 race days annually, along with an array of other events such as driving experiences, car launches, exhibitions, corporate days, and more – making it one of the most versatile venues in the country.

Now, the circuit has launched a first-of-its-kind hotel and leisure venue set to redefine motorsport hospitality. Managed by Silverstone itself, the venue offers an immersive blend of luxury and motorsport with 60 residences, a trackside restaurant and bar, a roof deck, private meeting spaces and briefing rooms, as well as a state-of-the-art wellness facility.

With a capacity for 112 guests, its open-plan layout includes versatile seating – from two-person tables and group settings to cosy sofas and snugs – all with unparalleled views of the Grand Prix circuit. It is also ideally suited for intimate group events and larger corporate bookings, with a 22-capacity briefing room and 10-person private dining space. The restaurant, bar, and roof deck can be exclusively hired for up to 150 guests.

Designed by Twelve Architects, The Gallery offers more than a meal; it’s a destination. The restaurant, bar and roof deck are the perfect pitstop for those visiting for event days, unique driving experience or Silverstone Museum, as well as those looking for a new culinary destination.

And so it was that to celebrate the arrival of Matt Tsistrakis as Head Chef at The Gallery at Escapade Silverstone, I was invited to sample a 6-course tasting menu at the restaurant, along with a few laps in a McLaren 570S GT4 – the fastest car in the Drive Silverstone lineup – around the 3.66-mile GP circuit, with professional race driver and coach, Chalie Kennedy.

With over 15 years of culinary expertise, Tsistrakis has a wealth of experience from some of the world’s most prestigious kitchens, including Auriens Chelsea, The Savoy Hotel, The Connaught, and Simpson’s in the Strand. His impressive résumé also spans The Sloane Club in London, The Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland, and Elounda Mare in Crete.

Passionate about quality and an advocate for simple, fresh, and uncluttered dishes, the 6-course tasting menu reflected Matt Tsistrakis’s philosophy of meticulously sourcing local ingredients and showcasing them with the ‘engineering’ precision synonymous with Silverstone.

The Starting Grid got things rolling with a sharing loaf and whipped butter. The bread was warm and freshly baked, with a crisp crust that paired perfectly with the fluffy, lightly salted butter—simple, but absolutely delicious.

Next up was a duck liver parfait, smooth and indulgent. The rich flavour was balanced nicely with a tangy chutney and delicate crisps. It was a luxurious way to start the journey.

The third course was a Squash & Ginger dish that exuded a warm, autumnal feel. The roasted squash and gentle heat of ginger created a comforting yet refined flavour, perfect for a chilly day at Silverstone.
