As Flight Club Oxford, the hugely popular social darts and cocktail bar, opens its brand-new venue, it promises to be the ultimate party destination. Launching just in time for Christmas celebrations, it’s an ideal spot for festive get-togethers with friends, family, and colleagues.
Located on the roof terrace of Westgate Oxford, Flight Club Oxford is a one-of-a-kind activity bar that combines the fun and nostalgia of the fairground and the warmth of a traditional pub to deliver a weirdly unexpected and ridiculously joyful social experience to Oxford.
The venue features a gorgeous bar, 11 semi-private oche playing areas, two terraces – one at the front and one at the back with beautiful views – and several areas to cosy up with a cocktail or get in on the Social Darts action. And with space for 250 people, there’s plenty of room to get a serious party going.
Guests can expect a high-energy atmosphere, a menu of gorgeous cocktails, sharing dishes, DJ sets, and banging bottomless brunch sessions, all served with a side of what Flight Club calls Social Darts. It’s darts, but not as you know it – reimagined for the 21st century. Offering something for everyone, this is a must-visit spot for an unforgettable time.
The setting: Fairground nostalgia meets British eccentricity
The presence of darts at Flight Club shouldn’t fool anyone into thinking they will be walking into an old, dark and dingy pub. Quite the opposite, in fact. This beautiful bar is a vibe on a whole new level. Think fairground-style lights blinking in time to the music, a carousel horse and antique treasures and trinkets everywhere you turn.
Designed by Flight Club’s award-winning in-house interior design team, stand-out elements include a huge bar lit with Flight Club’s signature fairground lights for excitement and energy. Grey concrete effect walls, brick slips, wood panelling and a variety of wallpaper prints add a cosy feel to the bar’s different spaces.
Walls are adorned with Victorian-style paintings and etchings, as well as an intricate bespoke mural of a Victorian hedge maze that is based on Blenheim Palace. Local influences can be found throughout. Visitors to the bar should keep their eyes peeled for various tortoise ornaments located all around the venue – a reference to the university tradition of tortoise racing. There is something new to be discovered at every visit.
The Game: What is Social Darts?
Flight Club has given darts a serious makeover with interactive, immersive games and tech that automatically scores by tracking every dart thrown with super-smart camera technology. Said cameras also throw out live-action replays on screen throughout the game and later deliver them straight to players’ inboxes to relive all the action (and, of course, provide the perfect content for social media bragging!).
Social Darts is made for group get-togethers. Twelve people can play at one oche, and for bigger groups of up to 250, multiple oches can be connected for an epic Social Darts showdown – the perfect option for team building, corporate events, and work Christmas parties.
There are six fun and fast-paced games to choose from, suitable for anyone to play. Whether a darts sniper or a total beginner, everyone has a chance to win.
Festive treats: limited-edition cocktails
In addition to Flight Club’s signature cocktails, mix-and-share dishes and pizza paddles, the bar has launched some festive treats. The new limited-edition cocktail menu features a selection of classic drinks, redesigned using the timeless flavours of winter and festivity—think Christmas in a glass!
Seasonal tipples on offer include ‘Sleigh My Margarita’, a blend of Casamigos Blanco tequila with vibrant pomegranate and blackberry liqueur, spiced with cinnamon and fresh lime.
In addition to gorgeous cocktails bursting with seasonal flavour, there are some moreish snacks to enjoy. Crispy brie and cranberry sauce, pigs in blankets with honey mustard, pork belly bites with ginger and lime dressing, and an assortment of macrons make for the perfect accompaniment.
Toast to the festive season with a bottomless brunch like no other
For those looking for a brunch in Oxford like no other, look no further than Flight Club Oxford. The bar offers a banging bottomless brunch every weekend, combining pizza, prosecco and Social Darts for two hours of non-stop fun. And throughout December, Flight Club Oxford will host a two-hour Festive Brunch Social on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Expect a sprinkling of Christmas party tunes from the resident DJ, a cocktail on arrival from the limited-edition winter menu followed by a bottle of prosecco for every guest, lip-smackingly good bottomless pizza paddles and an hour at the oche challenging your group to a game of Social Darts. Show up dressed in an outrageous Christmas jumper and be in with a chance to score some goodies.
Steve Moore, CEO and co-founder of Flight Club, said, “We’ve had Oxford firmly on our list as a perfect place for Flight Club for a long time. Its mix of rich history, vibrant culture and lively student atmosphere is something that speaks to us.
“We are hugely passionate about creating memories and giving groups of people an unforgettable time in iconic locations where we feel Flight Club fits. Oxford is one of those places. It feels so good to finally call Oxford home. Now all that’s left is to kick the party off. We hope the people of Oxford a ready for what’s to come!”
Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, commented: “It’s great to see the opening of Flight Club here at the centre. The venue is striking, and we know our guests will enjoy its mix of creative cocktails alongside a unique, modern take on the game of darts.
“Flight Club is the perfect complement to our existing mix of retail, restaurants, and leisure, and is opening at the perfect time for visitors to make the most of the Christmas celebrations.”
